This weekend I had a mission. If I so chose to accept it, I was suppose to go out and find decaying buildings and photograph them. The day started out very fun. At around two o'clock my roommate, my girlfriend, and myself set out to find these buildings. We traveled toward downtown Erie. We went through some pretty interesting neighborhoods. Most of the pictures I took were of what seemed to be old houses. Some of the pictures were of warehouses and other such places. But, overall it left a very interesting feeling. I felt as though at some point this area was a very bustling area. These warehouses and factories looked as though, they were very important to the area at a point in history. But, it seems to be a very important story to be told. It is a testament to the times. We moved away from these factories and industrial powerhouses and moved toward an earth friendly, environmentally sound time. As this is important it has taken away numerous industries. We have to emerge out and find a way to create these bustling places again because in the aftermath we have left them outdated and decaying.
As a side note the trip around Erie actually led to a road trip to Cleveland for some Swenson's hamburgers but that is a story for a later blog.
